On a recent fact finding mission in Rwanda, Matt Damon and a team from ONEXONE – a nonprofit foundation that supports the work of Millennium Promise – visited the Mayange Millennium Village. Here they had the opportunity to visit schools, hospitals, farms and locally-owned businesses to talk to community members about the Millennium Villages project (MVP).

The team filmed Matt outside of a primary school in the village, where the children were eating free, locally produced lunches provided by the MVP school meals program. In the film, Matt emphasizes the success of the school meals program towards increasing school enrollment – especially for girls.

A second video shows Matt talking to a local business man who is now earning an income by recharging batteries for lights. You can watch both videos by visiting the ONEXONE web site at:

Since 2005, ONEXONE has been supporting major global initiatives that help children find a better world and secure their future. Millennium Promise is grateful for their support of our work in Mayange, where interventions in agriculture, education, health and infrastructure are helping community members lift themselves out of extreme poverty.
